Watchtower Changes- Pointed Counsel - what -speculate

we all know that the watchtower changes are supposed to allow more "pointed counsel".

this will be coming quite soon - i already have my september magazines - so only 6 more issues and we will be into the january 2008 issues.

what are some of the issues that may be addressed in this pointed counsel?.

More council about the internet, also cultlike.

More specific counsel about inactive or fading ones.

A trend to paranoia respecting "the evil ones amomg us". (very cultish)

Sorry your going through the shakes from meds. I have been there before. They can make you feel subhuman.

As for leaving the borg and moving on, maybe you need to take it a little slower. There may be a way to avoid the loss of family. I know I used to think about it constantly. Now, not quite as much. I have heard many on this board say they wish they would have taken their withdrawal from the borg a little slower.

In any case, try to enjoy the beautiful setting you are in. Go out in your boat, fish or just read a book that is totally unrelated to religious thought. Most of the things we fear never happen. And if they do, we seem to find our way through. Just keep telling your family that you love them. Forget about the truth about the truth for a while.

a kingdom hall by me is remodeling, a rather extensive one i am told.

they do need some painting, some corrections of poor workmanship by the quickbuild committee and a few other odds and ends.

then i was told they took out all the ceramic tile in the entrance and bathrooms.

So it's about moving money around? They seem to grow greedier by the moment. I have toured the Stanley Theatre where they have their gilead graduations for the important ones. I was horrified at the time because I used to buy into the tale that jws were different and only used adequate facilities, not like the churches. As we toured, my stomach was churning. It's not that it isn't beautiful, it just isn't necessary. I see the same philosophy that has really always pervaded the org. Some live with high standards while the poorer ones in other countries meet in the heat with minimal, if any facilities. And there's no provisions for the poor, even in affluent countries. What a racket!

Then I was told they took out all the ceramic tile in the entrance and bathrooms. I asked why and was told "because they can". There is absolutely nothing wrong with the tile. What? Someone died and left the cong. money recently. Rather than donate that money to some poor ones who can't afford a hall in a 3rd world country or help some poor ones locally, they are wasting it, "because they can".

This really bothers me, but they seem to have no shame. I protested and got those blank stares for questioning the authority of the local elders who are pushing for the extreme makeover. Does this bother you or am I just being too sensitive?

Thanks for posting the video clip. I had no idea that the witnesses sold their houses and pioneered back in 1925, like they did in 1975, because the end was imminent. Some even refused to plant crops to show their faith in this crazy prediction. Then they were hit by the depression. All the time, Rutherford was living in a mansion and driving 2 luxary cars and vacationing in Europe. I'm sure the wt never gave them any help when their false predictions failed and they were left with nothing.

How many generations can they continue to do this I wonder?

I would think it is about owning property as a religion. The whole idea is they are free to set up shop now as a bonified religion and assume all rights to relieve people of their money.

The Churches Are Going JW Style

i have noticed some of the local churches are beginning to call on homes in the neighborhood.

we weren't home but they left a little bag of stuff.

i went to church with my wife last night and they were trying to start a house calling work.

I'm beginning to feel guilty that I don't do much for the less fortunate other than the occassional donation to charity. I applaud anyone who actually goes out and spends their time helping the ones in need.
